We survived!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

And we’re in. The move went surprisingly well, all considered, hopefully we’ll get our deposit on the old place back soon and all will be well.

We even managed to host Christmas dinner for the folks, which was an achievement in itself, so all in all a pretty good December.

The boy is growing fast and got lots of nice presents, so he’s well chuffed. I can’t say I am after the annoying noisy toy his nanny got him though. Grrr. Mostly he’s just happy running around playing and giggling and exploring the new house.

He seems to have a lot of fun sat in his car seat under the stairs at the moment, although I’m not sure it gives out quite the right message. He’s never even heard of the Potter boy.

Not long left

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

We’ve got under a week left at our cozy little flat before we move on to our own proper house. It’s done us well and I think we’ll all leave with some good memories of the old place.

Bring on the weekend!

Moving times

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

It’s that time of year again so we’re moving again. This time we’re relocating to the ass end of Heavitree from where we are at the moment in St. David’s.

We’ve got a propper house this time instead of a flat, which is nice, although it looks like they’re trying to rent out where we are at the moment for the same price as we’re going to be paying for a full house. Ha!

Day 30

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Having been told we’d be without a home for 4 days you might be surprised to hear that we’re now approaching a whole month without a roof over our heads (Ok, so maybe I’m being a little melodramatic, but it’s starting to take the Michael).

Apparently the flat was plastered on Friday, which in this heat might mean they painted it on Monday and should be habitable by now, but having heard a resounding sod all from the agency this week your guess is as good as ours.

At least a months rent back will make my wallet a little happier, and we’ll finally be able to afford that new mattress, but it would be nice to be kept in the loop of what’s happening.

Day 10

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Well, Toni has actually spoken to the letting agency about the flat now, they were supposed to be letting us know the state of play lest Friday, considering they initially said we’d be back in by the weekend just gone…

They still don’t know when we’ll be back in the flat again, when I stuck my head in the door on Saturday the carpet was still up and we were missing a wall, so I doubt we’ll be back in any time soon.

To top it all off, the new Burnout DLC is out on Thursday and the PS3 is back at the flat still. Nooooo!

We’ve moved!

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Well we’re in!

I never knew we had amassed so much crap in our time living in Sidwell Street. We threw out about 6 fill bin-bags of stuff and there was still mountains of stuff to move.

We’re sadly without internet at the moment as we’re still waiting for the agency to sort out the bills for the gas, electric and the phone line so we can get the broadband up and running. All I ca say is after the gas leak that was in the flat, which was sorted out this morning, they’re about a gazillion times faster to respond than our old landlord. To be fair, they couldn’t be much slower…

I’d invite you allĀ  over to see the new place, but we’re still unpacking, and besides this is the internet and you’re all a bunch of weirdos.

2 sleeps till moving day

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I’m coming up to the end of an era in my life. For the last 6 or so years I’ve been living in my penthouse looking out over Sidwell Street, but now I’m the family man that I am it’s time to move to somewhere a little more family friendly.

Our new place has 8 steps, rather than the current 58, to get to the front door and seems substantially bigger than where we are now. The kitchen is rather lacking, but them’s the breaks.

Hopefully our little man will be happy to run up and down the corridoors and now he’ll have his very own room for all his toys and stuff. Woot!

Moving times

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Well, it looks like we’re going to be moving next month!

After a second attempt at viewing the new flat Toni has her heart set on it. I still don’t think it’s perfect, but it’s a really nice area, really big rooms and close enough to the station to get to work. It’ll mean getting up earlier than normal, but them’s the breaks.

Toni is already off to secure the place with whats sure to be the begining of various non-refundable agency payments, so everything’s in motion already.

Our target for moving is going to be around the end of October, so it’ll be all hands on deck.

Pastures green?

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

We went to have a look at a new flat this morning, one that’s not 4 stories up and in the middle of town, but the woman who’s there at the moment didn’t leave the agent the keys so we spent half an hour sitting about waiting to see if they could contact her, then gave up.

It’s nicely out of the way and looks good from the outside, and if we manage to actually get inside some time we’ll see what the rest is like.

And breathe again

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Well the plumber’s been and fixed everything again. We had a very strange tap (like a washing machine outlet) sticking out of our hot water pipe for some reason, which is what flew apart causing a cascade of water (not a resonance cascade thankfully) which soaked the bathroom and everyone in the vicinity in hot water.

Very plesant I’m sure you’ll agree.

Anyway, it’s all OK now, but the sooner we find a better place to live, the better…
